Oxchord has come a long way for a project that only started in the summer of 2022. In that time we’ve ideated final concepts/contingencies, proved our concept with artists’ feedback, and continue to get closer to a final product week by week.
Humble Beginnings
December 10th, 2020 ->
Oxchords concept was first created in Fort Collins, Colorado. The idea is to have an app for only artists and art admirers (fans). Giving artists a place to post free from unrelated posts would provide a concentrated community of people who want to grow, create, and appreciate each other, while building local and global communities.
Oceans 11 (Assembling the Team)
July 1, 2022 ->
It took some time to figure out the idea, how achievable it was, and what kind of team it would take to create such an app. One graphic designer/marketer (The George Clooney of the Group), one front-end developer/coding genius (Matt Damon), and one back-end developer/coffee addict (Brad Pitt).
The Meet Up
July 13th, 2022 ->
It was time to figure out our next steps. What do we need, when do we need it, who is this for, where do we start, and how do we get there?
Conceptualization
July 16th, 2022 ->
With our first meeting done, we all took the time to individually bring the app to the drawing board and collaborate one what we think a final product should look like.
Gathering Data
August 1st 2022 ->
With the concept finalized, we needed to get other artists’ feedback. We reached out to all the artists we knew and got their feelings on the music industry, what’s missing, and their feelings on oxchord.
Making Tweaks
August 20th ->
Through the data we received from our previous meeting, we now had a fully validated concept + some great subtle improvements. Bringing the concept back to the drawing board for the moment.
Development’s a Go
September 10th, 2022 ->
From ideation and conceptualization to feedback and adjustments. We’re ready to start the development journey.
Sprint 1
October 28th, 2022 ->
This sprint was spent getting on the same page, understanding roles, and laying out our first steps.
Sprint 2
November 1st, 2022 ->
Familiarizing ourselves with API gateways, Navigation practices, and marketing do’s and dont’s.
Sprint 3
December 15th, 2022 ->
User Page navigation + icons done, backend buckets created, and marketing strategies employed.
Sprint 4
January 10th 2023 ->
New marketing formats, updated branding, more and more APIs, and completed home feed navigation.
Sprint 5
March 6th 2023 ->
Realized that the algorithms are exactly the issue with major streaming sites. I mean why is it that a computer should decide whose song is good and whose song isn’t? We’re pivoting to make oxchord without the use of ‘governing’ algorithms.
Sprint 5 - CURRENT SPRINT
February 3rd, 2023
This sprint is all about refinement. We’ve hit our groove, we’re making weekly progress and approaching starting to think of oxchord’s algorithm.
Sprint 7
April 29th, 2023
We have a clear and core identity. Its now all about getting the ready for beta testing. We’re going to be putting our heads down and grinding things out.
